We reckon people who fish also know how to cook fish perfectly and this is definitely the case in Japan.

As part of Life’s An Adventure’s 9-day Highlights of the Michinoku Coastal Walk tour you’ll stop at a fishing village and get to taste the local delicacies straight from the pot, savouring regional flavours and fresh catches! Japan is globally famous for its seafood, so we know you won’t be disappointed.

And this is just one of the many special moments you’ll experience along this pack-free guided walk. How’s this? On one of the days you’ll get to see one of Japan's finest views, the Kitayamazaki Cliffs, AKA the Ocean Alps. And you’ll see them by land and by sea.

After a day on the Michinoku Coastal Trail you’ll hop on a ‘sappa boat’ navigated by local fishermen offering an exhilarating, up-close experience of Kitayamazaki’s dramatic 200m-high cliffs and Tanohata’s unique rock formations.

Afterwards the boat brings you back to the shore at the Hotel Ragaso where you’ll enjoy a wonderful evening meal served with local sake and beer.

After a gorgeous walk on day five you’ll get to see tradition salt-making, where you’ll learn the art of extracting salt from seawater using age-old techniques. This hands-on activity provides a unique insight into the local culture, allowing you to take home a piece of Japan’s coastal heritage. We are pretty sure after this tour your perception of Japan will be changed for the better.
