Amanda Baar, Three in the bed (NATURE WILDERNESS 2024)

My husband and I were walking along a river near Wollomombi NSW when he stopped and said “Look!”. The camouflage was so good I didn’t see them but my eagle eyed husband did. Mum, Dad and baby echidna in the middle with either mum or dad’s arm wrapped protectively over the top. We watching them sleeping and breathing for quite some time. We often see echidnas in the wild but never anything as heartwarming as this!
