Alistair Drew, Starlight's Lookout (PLACES WILDERNESS 2022)

Starlight's lookout is a small mesa not far north of Longreach in Queensland. The story goes that bushranger Captain Starlight assembled a herd of 1,000 stolen cattle here before droving them south to be sold. The lookout offers 360 degree views of the surrounding, very flat, countryside and I can't help thinking that Starlight would have seen his pursuers from this vantage point long before they knew where he was. This image offers a glimpse of the vast expanses of land Starlight would have to cross.
