Anne Algar, Noodles of Fun (PEOPLE WILDERNESS 2024)
The entry in and out of Hamersely Gorge in remote Karijini National park is very steep with sharp rocks protruding. The rock faces are sloping and jagged. The best way to get around in parts of the gorge is to swim. I watched these young kids climbing out of the gorge in a line awkwardly carrying their noodles up the steep incline. I was drawn to the line they made against the directional bands of the rock formation that seemed to be leading them out of the gorge.
