Richard Greenland, Mirror Lakes at Sunrise (PLACES WILDERNESS 2024)

Mirror Lakes some 50km out of Te Anau heading towards Milford Sound. As the sun hit the peaks of Mt Eglinton they turned a vibrant red. The reflection in the dark still water is amazing. These peaks are made from volcanic basalt, which are high in oxides, including Iron oxide, which is why the amazing red colour.
