Kerry Knights, Kea's rising (NATURE WILDERNESS 2024)

This image was taken on the Routeburn track in February 2023, at Routeburn Falls Hut. I had slipped out of the hut in the morning, wanting to capture images of the clever and iconic Kea birds. This photo was taken as one lifted off from the Beech Tree. Framed by the distant mountains, this image appeals to me as it embodies the movement and energy of the Kea, whilst hinting to a monochrome palette.
