Brian Anderson, In awe of Hornbreen (PEOPLE WILDERNESS 2024)
A group of adventurers are carried to the closest point of approach to Hornbreen (Horn Glacier) by zodiac, their jackets luminescent against the sea. The perspective belies the size of the glacier face - some 40 or 50 metres high - as the zodiac remains clear of the brash ice field. Hornbreen is in south west Svalbard in the high Arctic wilderness, with cruise ships complying with Association of Arctic Cruise Operators guidelines, ensured by carrying a Norwegian pilot.
