Murray Parkinson, Ice Falls beyond the Artists Pool (PLACES WILDERNESS 2024)
The Artists Pool is adorned by ancient King William and Pencil Pines. It is aptly name for its painterly quality and is a sublime location at any time of year. During winter the pool freezes solid. This mosaic was recorded near noon during a wet and windy July day when the air temperature was a few degrees above freezing. Puddles of water pooled on the surface of the ice, ready to freeze solid again during the night. Weindorfers Tower, ringed by 50 metre high ice falls, can be seen through the mist in the background.
