Adam Gearing, Flashover (PLACES WILDERNESS 2024)

Observed during one of the largest solar storms of the past 10 years, the sky lit up with red light from the Aurora Australis. To compose the image, I rested the camera on a rock in front of this alpine tarn for get the reflection of the hut in the water, lit using a handheld headtorch. This solar storm lasted long enough for a few photos before the sky returned to its regular shade of black, like it had never happened.
