Heather Colling, Driftwood on Farewell Spit (PLACES WILDERNESS 2022)

This was taken at dusk on Farewell Spit, Golden Bay, NZ near the Gannet colony.The lighting had an ethereal feel to it - I have never seen anything like it before or since. It wasn’t until after I had press the shutter that I realised I had captured the gannet flying through the gap.
