Kate Miles, Gaiters won't help you in Gertrude Valley (March theme: Walking Buddies)
We Aussies love to keep our feet dry while hiking. So when my New Zealander buddies took me and a couple of other mates to Gertrude Valley and told us we were going to get our feet wet, we protested! We insisted our gaiters would protect us... then we saw the height of the water. We insisted we could just remove our boots and then put them on dry on the other side... then they told us there were six creek crossings either way (one was up to our bums!). Now I know why my New Zealand buddies mocked our waterproof boots.
