It’s back baby! Entries are now open for 2025 Wilderness Photographer of the Year, presented by Mountain Designs.
We're looking for your best wilderness photos and giving you the chance to share in a prize pool valued at more than $21,000.
Now in its fifth year, Wilderness Photographer of the Year is open to Australian and New Zealand photographers and offers a prize pool worth more than $21,000, including $5,000 cash and $16,000 in prizes.
The best images (including Winners, Runners-Up and the Top 10 in each category) will also be showcased in a special edition of Great Walks magazine (February-March 2026), and at greatwalks.com.au
There are three categories – People, Places and Nature.
Places: We're looking for your best landscape photos of wilderness areas. Think sweeping panoramas and dramatic horizons, spectacular coastlines and photogenic mountains.
People: In this category we want to see photos of people experiencing wilderness areas. If there's one or more people in the frame, this is the category for you.
Nature: Focus on flora and fauna. Think kangaroos and wallabies, birds, wildflowers and beetles, mushrooms and orchids. From the micro to the macro!
Entries close Sunday 19 October 2025. Early bird entry pricing is on now and runs until 15 June 2025.
