Tasmania’s renowned Three Capes Track has now welcomed its 100,000th walker, highlighting its reputation as one of the state’s premier tourism attractions.

The milestone was reached by Georgie Dunn, a visitor from Victoria, while hiking the 48km trail that winds along the breathtaking Tasman Peninsula.

Known for its rugged beauty, the track features some of the highest sea cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere and offers spectacular coastal views.

Georgie shared her excitement about completing the journey, saying she was inspired by stories from her mother and friends who had already experienced the walk.

“Tasmania is one of my favourite places in the world,” she said. “I’m especially looking forward to the stunning scenery and getting a glimpse of Tasman Island.”

The achievement underscores the trail’s growing popularity, attracting nature lovers and adventurers from across the country and beyond to experience Tasmania’s wild and unforgettable coastline.

Beginning at Port Arthur, the Three Capes Track experience includes a boat ride to Denmans Cove before the trek starts in earnest.

The trail is well-maintained and designed for accessibility, with comfortable huts for overnight stays and interpretive signage along the way that highlights the area's rich natural and cultural heritage.

Highlights of the walk include stunning cliffside views from Cape Pillar and Cape Hauy, where dolerite spires plunge into the sea, as well as encounters with local wildlife like wallabies, sea eagles, and dolphins. The final ascent to Cape Hauy is both challenging and rewarding, offering sweeping vistas that make the effort worthwhile.

The Three Capes Track is not just a physical journey but an immersive experience in Tasmania’s wild beauty. It appeals to seasoned hikers and nature lovers alike, offering a unique blend of comfort, wilderness, and storytelling.

Bookings are essential, as access is limited to preserve the trail’s pristine environment.
