Tasmanian Expedition's 'Flinders Island Walking Adventure In Comfort' has become the 13th Great Walk Of Australia.
The six-day/five-night, day-pack only Walking Adventure In Comfort is fully guided and covers 42 km of easy to moderate walking. A diverse and rewarding itinerary, it has mix of spectacular terrains, epic views, crystal clear waters for swimming, abundant wildlife, and Aboriginal and European cultural history.
Although a small island of only 1,333 sq km, Flinders Island, off tghe north-east coast of Tasmania, hosts an amazing array of ecosystems that make for wonderful hiking - from dunes and lagoons, to woodland and mountainous granite ridges which produce spectacular and unique species of flora and fauna which freely roams the island.
With its red lichen covered boulders, vast white sand beaches and dramatic granite peaks including Mt Strzelecki, the landscape is at once familiar and Tasmanian, but also unique and seemingly untouched.
The Great Walks Of Australia is a list of, now 13, guided walking tours in places as diverse as Lord Howe Island and the Flinders Ranges. All walk products must meet strict selection criteria in order to be part of the Great Walks Of Australia.
The journeys are led by expert guides with a deep understanding of the environment who help to bring alive the culture, nature and history of each destination along the way. Small intimate group departures, accommodation with a sense of exclusivity and outstanding food and wine combine remote wilderness locations with the ultimate in walking holidays.
