The Great Walks Oct-Nov issue is out now!

It's our bucket list walks special - and one walk, that's feautred on the cover is the Green Gully Track in northern NSW and as our writer shows it deserves to be on our list.

"Green Gully Lookout and The Rocks Lookout were two small side trips that were not to be missed. Both produced panoramic views over the sheer gorges and distant valleys as far as the eye could see, with no sign of human existence," writes Emma Belford.

"Way below, we could faintly make out the sound and whitewash of Green Gully Creek that we would be following back up through the valley the next day."

Other walks in our bucket list issue include the Overland Track, the Jatbula Trail and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk.

Another fine walk we showcase is the mighty Bibbulmun Track where our writer found plenty of time to get back to nature.

"Waking up at Woolbales before sunrise, I made my coffee and scrambled up the slippery monadnock to the top where pockets of moss and lichen housed a collection of small plants and groups of bunny orchids," write Rebakah Hawkins.

"The mist had settled into the valley pockets and was lifting as I awaited the sunrise. My hot coffee was steaming as the sun started peaking over the horizon, casting golden shards over and through the mist. At that moment black cockatoos started screeching and I felt so very grateful to be witnessing this new day."

In our Walksmart section we review sleeping mats and show you the best gear for any Tassie adventure.

Expect the issue to be on the way to newsagents and subscribers next week.
