This is good news for visitors to the Snowy Mountains.
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has opened the final 1.5km of new mountain biking track in Kosciuszko National Park, marking the completion of the Thredbo Valley Track (TVT) extension.
This final addition to the lower Thredbo Valley Track means there is now a combined 37.5km of world-class mountain biking track available for riders of all abilities, set in the stunning natural environment of the Snowy Mountains, a press statement said.
In 2019, 19.4km of track was opened, offering an exhilarating experience for riders in addition to the existing 16.7km of track.
This final 1.5km section is family-friendly and runs from the Gaden Trout Hatchery to the picturesque Thredbo River picnic area. The extension also improves access for walkers and fishers by providing an elevated platform alongside the scenic Thredbo River, starting from the popular picnic area.
Along the Thredbo Valley Track, riders experience some of Australia’s highest and most picturesque terrain, taking in stunning alpine and open grassland views as they follow the Thredbo River through tall mountain gum forest and snow gum woodland. Riders also cross seven scenic bridges along the way, taking in spectacular views of Thredbo Valley.
The finished track offers everything from shorter family-friendly rides to long, technical sections for experienced riders.
