How’s this for a tale of endurance!
A 31-year-old man from China has spent nearly a year hiking 3,300 kilometers from his hometown in central Hubei province to Lhasa, Tibet.
His journey, however, has taken a toll on him, making him appear much older than his age, as if he were in his 50s.
Known by the alias Liqi on social media, he began his solo trek from Jingzhou, Hubei, on April 6 of the previous year and reached Lhasa on March 11 this year, as reported by Jiupai News.
Along the way, Liqi encountered several high-altitude mountains, carrying a two-wheeled cart containing all the supplies he needed for daily survival.
He battled extreme weather conditions, including typhoons, storms, and heavy snow, and even faced wild wolves twice. One of the toughest moments came when his cart fell into a ditch and its wheels were damaged.
In recent months, a serious knee injury left Liqi limping through the final stretch of his journey. In a video shared on March 8, he described being stuck on a mountain for an entire day due to a blizzard, with no food available.
Liqi, previously working in the garment industry, hasn’t revealed what inspired this grueling trek. He admitted the harsh conditions have significantly aged him, joking, "I’m 20 years older than when I started."
He spent most of his nights in the wild, occasionally resting at petrol stations or with forest rangers. For the last six months, he hasn’t bathed or changed clothes. Living frugally, he kept his monthly expenses to around $200 by preparing simple meals.
After reaching Lhasa, he took a long hot bath, cut his hair, and shared his adventures through live streams.
