Good news for those wanting to walk Tassie's most famous trail, Overland Track bookings for the 2024/25 summer walking season open at 9am on Tuesday 2 July.
As always, it's a very popular walk so this year Parks Tas is launching a new queueing system.
You will be able to join the waiting room one hour prior to opening, and at 9am those in the waiting room will be randomly selected to progress through to the booking site.
They recommend that you join the waiting room prior to 9am, as those who access the link afterwards will be placed at the end of the queue.
With only 34 places each day, popular dates can sell out very quickly and we recommend that you plan alternate dates in case your preferred date is unavailable.

What details will you need to complete your booking?
- You can book for up to 8 walkers in a booking.
- Have the first and last name, date of birth, state and nationality for each walker.
- Ensure that the name of the person who is paying for the booking is listed on the Billing Contact screen.
- That person will need to provide their email address, mobile phone number and postcode.
- They will also become the contact point for any changes or refund requests for the booking.
- If you are intending to purchase an information pack as part of your booking, you'll need to provide a valid postal address.
