A 22-year old tourist has been assisted near Cradle Mountain, after attempting to climb the mountain without footwear.
Police say the man contacted emergency services last Saturday morning, reporting that he was unable to walk due to his toes being frost-bitten.
Ummm, yeah!
Emergency services were contacted by the man at 7:30am, at which point he had been hiking for about an hour.
He told them he was attempting to climb Cradle Mountain, in Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, without footwear, and that his feet were "frost-bitten and injured" and he was unable to walk.
Police said that although the weather was fine at the Tasmanian national park, the temperature was in the negatives.
They have reminded walkers of the importance of being properly prepared with equipment and experience if venturing into the wilderness.
