Entirely community-powered, the event is organised by local runners, chiefs, and villagers, ensuring the race is deeply rooted in Tannese culture and tradition.
Set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Yasur, known for its near-constant eruptions, the race carves through black volcanic ash plains, dense jungle trails, and steep ridgelines, pushing runners to their physical and mental limits.
