If you entered our latest comp to win a walking holiday for two to Japan, then this story is for you!
Before we announce the winner, we’d like to thank the hundreds of people who entered - and of course we must thank the sponsor of the prize Life’s An Adventure who offer over 60 pack-free guided walks here and overseas.
The prize was a choice of either the 9-day Highlights of the Michinoku Coastal walk, the 7-day Izu Geo Trail walk or the 8-day Kunisaki Spiritual Trail. What a choice!
All the walks are pack-free and professionally guided, featuring first-class accommodation, amazing local cuisine and plenty of Wow-factors!
So, without further ago…
The winner is….
Andy L.
Congrats Andy! We’re sure he’s going to have an amazing time but before he heads off we sent him a few questions so we could get to know him a bit.
GRW: What’s your earliest bushwalking memory?
Dad taking us up for walks in the local national park. A great introduction to the Australian outdoors.
GRW: What’s your favourite part of Australia to walk in and why?
Tassie’s Three Capes Walk. It’s stunning raw natural beauty on a challenging but doable multi-day walk. The cabins/stops are luxe, and you don't have to bring your own tent.
GRW: What are you most looking forward to on your Japan walking holiday?
When I think of Japan, what typically comes to mind are its high-tech city and urban landscapes. I'm looking forward to exploring and enjoying its natural wonders this time round.
GRW: What’s one piece of hiking gear you never leave home without?
Comfortable, tested, well-supported hiking boots are a must. I'll be spending a lot of time on my feet, and in uneven terrain, so this is the most essential piece of equipment.
Once again thanks to everyone who entered and look out for our next great competition!
