Ordnance Survey, the National Mapping Agency of Great Britain is expanding its popular OS Maps service beyond the country and has begun mapping much of Australia.
OS Maps can be used to plan outdoor activities as well as outdoor navigation, orientation and route finding. It comes with a variety of map layers, crowd sourced routes as well as the ability to upload and visualise your own GPS routes
The OS Maps app is useful to:
View and print maps, switch between different map sources
Download offline maps to mobile phone
Orient and navigate outdoors through GPS positioning on mobile phones
Discover outdoor recreational routes (walking, running, cycling, paddling, horse riding, …)
Upload and share your own routes
Our friends at walkwinchester.co.uk have had a good play around with the OS Maps Australia and their thorough review can be found here.
