Great Walks tries on a pair of Kühl's Renegade hiking pants.
"The Kühl (pronounced ‘Cool’, dahling) Renegades fit to perfection thanks to the crotch gusset, articulated knees and slightly tapered 30” leg (28” to 36” lengths accommodate everyone from Napoleon Bonaparte to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar).
Yes, you’ll turn the head of every grazing marsupial along the track, even with those strange seams across the top of the thighs.
The soft shell-like Duralux fabric (95% nylon, 5% Spandex) proved both bush, sun and water-resistant, and is finished with a peached waistband to sooth those hip-belt chafing blues.
As for the pockets – I think they’ve set a trouser record with eight, a solid 50% of which are in and around the thighs. While I probably wouldn’t use them much, my phone was comfy in both the twin zippered ones, the stealth phone pocket and the 3D phone pocket, although I couldn’t tell which of the latter two was which.
The front pockets, mesh again, passed the coin test with flying colours (i.e. I didn’t lose my change when being swallowed by a ridiculously deep sofa). Very nice indeed."
